Meeting Notes:

·        Randy Harkness made a statement about his mother who was a 70 year HLCC and neighbor.

§  Free museum passes are distributed by the SPL.org website at noon, promptly, every day, if the museum is open that day.

·        Quite a diverse list of good, local museums

·        You do need to have an active SPL.org account

·        Passes are for 1 month ahead of the event.  Every day increments an event one day later.

§  Branch study rooms:

·        Need to create an account

·        Book up to 1 month ahead

·        Food & bev allowed

·        Eric:  “Had a wedding at Northgate”

·        Birthdays are OK

·        As a public space, you cannot stop people from coming in the room.

·        Central library rooms require pay

·        Enter info and librarian gives a custom list

·        Real humans with ability to adjust on feedback

§  SPL EBooks

·        Overdrive/Libby is SPL’s paid content provider

o   Collection has gotten pretty good

o   Libby is a re-brand of Overdrive

·        Librarians can help you with EBooks

·        O’Reilly:  computer tech e-books

o   By chapter

o   No extra download needed.

o   No check out needed

o   Sometimes dated content

§  Peak Picks – popular collections, high demand books

·        500 waitlist is not unusual

·        2 week waitlist

·        Books do become available

·        Need to return books promptly please

§  New: no late fees

·        Do require books back within 2 weeks

·        Account gets frozen if overdue

·        Get a lost charge if over a year

§  Newspapers and Periodicals

·        Flipster – most publications are available here.  Long list

o   There is a Flipster app for mobile but browser resizes nicely

§  Q:  Had libby and would not work.  One drive was not available.

·        A:  Eric says that Libby is best as it’s supported

·        A: 3 week checkout

·        Might have to wait until available

§  Q:  How is your audio book library?

·        Great.  Have good vendors for now to provide content.

§  Q:  How to get a pin? Go inside library?

·        A:  Yes, come in person to get the PIN. Might be able to get it through chat.
