Donate to Save the Arts Program at Northgate Elementary!
The budget from Seattle Public Schools was released the first week of March for all schools. Northgate Elementary has been told that it will lose funding for the 2022-23 school year for it's arts program. Northgate currently has a full time art teacher, and will now have a half time teacher. This means that all students at the school will get only 30 minutes of art each week.
The PTO is able to pay the additional $55,000 in funding to keep our arts program full time. We are raising money in our community to save our arts program! People can donate using the following link (Paypal) or write a check directly to Northgate PTO.
Northgate Elementary School is 70% student's of color, with 30% of students being English Language Learners. Arts education is vital to our humanity—our social emotional well-being, our identity safety, our ability to tell our stories. Art touches every single student, educator and community member. The arts program at Northgate holds so much power in helping our non-native English speakers communicate who they are and what they stand for. Art transcends language barriers.
We appreciate you considering this request to continue this essential part of our educational program at Northgate.
