Haller Lake Land Use Update

 Haller Lake Land Use Update

By Sean McEwan

Lincoln Towing redevelopment: BODE Apartments is still working on their master use permit for just the parcel located off Aurora to construct a 7-story, 540-unit apartment building with 10 Live-Work Units, retail, and parking for 354 vehicles.
The remainder of the Lincoln Towing property is noted as 'future development' but it appears BODE has proposed five additional apartment buildings on the site.

Puetz Golf Center redevelopment: Pulte Homes is continuing to work on obtaining construction permits. They are proposing two 4-story apartment buildings (102 units total) and 134 townhouse units.
**Of particular interest on this one are improvements to the trail along the east side of the site in conjunction with a stormwater bioretention feature that Seattle Public Utilities is working on.

LA Fitness redevelopment: The developer submitted to the City was a 7-story, 413-unit apartment building with parking for 206 vehicles (the existing LA Fitness would be torn down). It doesn't look like there has been any movement on this one.

New City of Seattle Fire Station: This is going to be located on Meridian across from Washelli Cemetery at approximately 113th and will be the new Station No. 31. The last milestone schedule showed this one starting construction in late 2023 and they are getting close on permits.

UW Medical Center Behavioral Health Teaching Facility: Construction is getting pretty close to completion.

James Baldwin Elementary School: Construction complete with work ongoing on their outdoor play areas. What a great addition to the neighborhood!

Aurora Avenue safety improvements: SDOT wrapped up community design workshops with SDOT anticipated to have a summary available in September 2023. Concept designs are anticipated later this year.
As a refresher, money was previously approved to pilot safety improvements on a section of Route 99 south of 105th. Aurora Reimagined Coalition continues to push for much needed safety improvements along Aurora.

145th and I-5 interchange: This project is supposedly in final design and was slated to begin construction in late 2023.
Here's an article as a refresher on what is being proposed - https://www.theurbanist.org/2022/03/07/shoreline-moves-ahead-with-highway-expansion-on-seattles-doorstep/.
Shoreline also has a website for the project here:

130th Street Station: Construction is in progress. Sound Transit notes the station is tentatively scheduled to open in Q2 of 2026. The station structure is mostly in place (this was to avoid service disruption later on when trains start running to Lynnwood) and the remainder of the build-out is scheduled to start in October 2023.

City of Seattle Comprehensive Plan updates: The City is in the process of drafting the plan based on community feedback and it should be available for public comment later this year.

Former Sam's Club: no updates

NE 130th/NE 125th Street Corridor Improvements: SDOT is in the early planning stages of this work and anticipates having something to share with the public soon. One interesting thing that SDOT staff mentioned,  during the listening tour with the Director, was that WSDOT has a bunch of restrictions related to I-5 that is hampering some of their early efforts.

UW Medical Center NW Master Plan: They will be taking public comments on their 20-year master plan starting here in mid-September.
