James Baldwin Elementary School Grand Opening

As we say goodbye to Northgate Elementary, a fixture in the Haller Lake neighborhood  for over 60 years, say hello to James Baldwin.  The school opens its doors to 250 students on September 6th.  State of the art:  the 600 capacity mega building has temperature control; a large covered outdoor play-court; and a yet to be seen playground.  If you’ve walked or driven by you’ve seen the street infrastructure changes along 1st NE.  My street, North 117th on the south side of James Baldwin, is getting a makeover as well with sidewalks.  The school will have new leadership as principal Fauntleroy takes leave and Nicole Silver steps in as administrator.  The school has a grand opening celebration at 11am on Thursday, August 31.
