Funding For Street Projects in the Haller Lake Area

On November 1 the Move Seattle levy oversight committee picks winners in the final round of Neighborhood Street Fund grants. They are amongst the winner in the 2019 NSF competition, that was postposed 'til now because of Covid cutbacks.

Attached is the current ranking, which can be changed at the Nov 1 meeting (See the presentation is here

3 projects in the Haller Lake area are currently ranked above the funding cutoff.

There will likely be lots of public comments vying for various projects to be elevated in lieu of those on the current list. Here is the meeting announcement, agenda, and how to submit comments. It may be wise to defend any that need defending.

The projects can be found on the NSF page Google Maps here; I've attached some screenshots.

Scored # 3: The pedestrian signal at 130th & Ashworth

This serves walk/bike routes to Ingraham High, the Aurora Stadium, & a little further afield via the paved walkway behind SPU's work yard, Northgate Elementary.

Importantly, traffic along 130th will likely get worse when the 130st Station opens, heightening its importance.

Scored # 6: 128th St. Walkway between Corliss & 1st Ave NE

This adds 1 block of asphalt walkway connecting future work on 1st Ave NE that is on the list of things being considered to serve the 130th St. Station. Importantly, 128th is one of the bike/ped routes being considered to serve the 130th St. Station

Additionally, 128th may be one of the streets used for cut-through traffic from 125th to the new 130th St. Station

Scored # 9, barely above the proposed cutoff: 122nd St. Walkway between Corliss & 1st Ave NE

This will provide the most direct route to the path along 1st Ave NE to Northgate Elementary.

Additionally, 122nd may be one of the streets used for cut-through traffic from 125th to the new 130th St. Station
