Opening of Friendship Heights Tiny House Village This week, the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) celebrated the opening of the Friendship Heights Tiny House Village at the corner of N 125th St. and Aurora Avenue N. The village will house approximately 50 homeless people and is sponsored by Epic Life Church and the Seattle Foursquare Church. The homes are insulated and heated for homeless single adults and couples. Each house was built by volunteers and will be filled by referrals from the City’s HOPE team, with an emphasis on referring people from the surrounding neighborhood, including people living on Seattle Public School property next to Broadview-Thomson K-8. Case Managers are on-site to help with transitioning into permanent housing and looking for employment. The goal is for villagers to live temporarily in a tiny house and be on a pathway to secure permanent housing. |
