Little Free Library for Children Built at HLCC

On April 8, 2021 the Haller Lake Community Club (HLCC) received  a Little Free Library from Page Ahead, a trusted local children’s literacy nonprofit!

The installation is part of Page Ahead's Book Oasis campaign to establish Little Free Libraries in Seattle neighborhoods where many children have limited access to books. With no public library in HLCC, the HLCC Board requested a Library and we were selected. We were also excited to learn that the Bella B community on N 125th St will be receiving one as well.

The library is the perfect height for a child to look through and select a book. The library is open to any child in the community, so come on by to find a book! You may also leave children's books in the library to help keep it full of books. We are lucky that Page Ahead will help to restock the library too.

Here you can see Sid, the installer, hard at work constructing our library that is built in a sturdy pot of concrete:

Would you like a “free” Little Free Library?

Page Ahead, a local children’s literacy organization, wants to give Haller Lake kids more opportunities to read by building, installing, stocking, and maintaining Little Free Libraries in our neighborhood.  All they need are neighbors willing to host a little library in front of their home, at no cost to the property owner. If you’re a homeowner, a renter willing to speak with your landlord, or know someone else in the neighborhood who might be interested, Page Ahead would LOVE to talk to you.  Please contact volunteer project manager, Kim Ferse, by email kferse@pageahead.org or phone 206-461-
