Presentation on Plan for Pedestrian and Bike Access to Our New Light Rail Stations

On Feb. 4, HLCC virtually hosted Chris Saleeba, Senior Transportation Planner for the City of Seattle, presenting the results of the "130th & 145th Multimodal Access Study," i.e. how the city proposes to improve access to the the new light rail stations along I-5 at N 130th and N 145th. He was supported by Patrice Carroll.

You can see a video of Chris's talk and the Q&A after here.

The Shoreline South / N. 148th St. station is scheduled to open in 2024 when Metro will also add the connecting 522 BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) route. The N. 130th St  station might open in 2025 if it's approved for acceleration; otherwise it's scheduled for 2031.

Chris went over how his team picked preliminary projects, collected feedback, and narrowed down the projects to 18.  He went into depth on the projects in and immediately connecting to Haller Lake.

A crucial point is that none of these projects is yet funded.  If we want to see them, we need to advocate for them.  It would help the advocacy if you could refer to the projects by the numbers in the report.  Seattle Department of Transportation's Community Resource Guide has suggestions for where to provide feedback and for grant programs that might fund these projects.

More details are available in the meeting minutes.
