Bella B and Halcyon Neighbors See Crime Spike

According to the Lake City Collective’s interviews with the residents of Bella B, they have lost tools, propane tanks, and clothes.  Mostly they’ve lost peace of mind due to constant burglaries, lurking, and even an incident of intimidation with a machete.  A gun was drawn on a Halcyon resident when they confronted somebody trying to steal their bicycle.

Bella B and Halcyon residents believe the attackers live in the homeless camps along the stretch that would be Stone Ave. if it continued past the Home Depot north.  COVID has limited clearing of encampments, according to Tara Beck of the Homelessness Outreach and Provider Ecosystem (HOPE) team.

It is important to report any thefts or intimidation through https://www.seattle.gov/police/need-help/online-reporting.  Low level thefts won’t be investigated, but they guide the police in allocating resources, and help establish a pattern of crime that can be the basis of action.
