Harkness Park News
New sign
We have a lovely new sign made by Erin Wilson and installed
by Don Thornton. Nice work guys!
Progress on official name change
We got word from Debora Juarez on our request for getting
the name “Harkness Park” on the Parks Dept. maps. She passed the request on to Paula Hoff at
Seattle Parks to help us with the application process.
Progress on mulching and planting
As of our
last report, we were still mulching, i.e. adding a layer of cardboard
covered by wood chips. That’s all
done! Thank you for those who pitched in
with time and cardboard.

Planting wish list
Some of the plants listed above were paid for and installed
by friends of Randy Harkness in lieu of sending flowers when he was in the
hospital. Isn’t it nice to have the
“flowers” last forever and benefit the whole neighborhood!
If you want to honor somebody, or just contribute to the
beauty of your neighborhood, Kippy and Deb have a wish list of additional
plants:
Saskatoon Service Berry “northline” - $20
Issai Hardy Kiwi ($25)
Red Twig Dogwood ($15)
Vine Maple ($18)
Rush Juncus Evergreen (8 for $25)
Cedar Grove Compost (10 bags for the herb spiral for $50)
Herbs for the Herb Spiral - Rosemary, Thyme, lavender, Sage, Parsley, Chives, etc...
