Curtain Going Up

CURTAIN GOING UP
Theatre Reviews

Most of Jane Austen's books have been adapted by Book-It Repertory Theatre, but the 5th Avenue Theatre's adaptation of Pride & Prejudice may be the first musical of one of them, at least in Seattle.

The story is framed as a "show within a show", chronicling Austen(Laura Michelle Kelly)'s own personal journey as she wrote the book. Most of the actors are out of towners, mainly from Broadway, but the handful of Seattle thespians were well chosen, including veterans Eric Ankrim, Ethan Carpenter, Sarah Rose Davis(why not?), and Cayman Ilika, and newcomer Andrea J. Love.

The musical score is excellent as usual.
